An elephant swimming suite explores the suggestive/expressive power of the music-image-body combination enhanced with the means of front-end technological research. The performance is a work-in-progress originated in 2007.

The performance merges live playing and video into a single entity having multiple personnalities, the different media joining forces to create a common narration. The spectators are taken on a journey in a sound-image nowhereland inhabited by abstract fabrics of pixels and sound grains, visions of strange hybrid animals that live in our unconsciousness. An elephant swimming suite leads through deep hypnotic waters to delicate poetic states and again into walls of sound and fury.

The musician add his human presence and energy to the media. At the moment we’re working on a new set-up bringing the video artists’ body presence on stage as well.

An elephant swimming suite is a work-in-progress which originated in 2007. Since its beginning, the project has been performing actively in France (Paris, Belfort, Mulhouse), and new gigs are being schduled for 2008/2009 (France, London, Montréal Canada…).

The performance is built on a technological platform using an augmented guitar (guitar with sensors driving custom sound software) and a multiple video projection. Sensor, sound and image data are shared in a 3-computer platform to create new intricate interactions between body, sound and image.
